The Laguna Woods Cat Club is a small but mighty band of volunteers who have been rescuing cats in our Village retirement community since 1971. We have an IRS 501 © (3) tax exempt status, and all of the resources for our Foster and Adoption Program are derived from donations and fundraising events. The Mission of this program is to provide loving, permanent homes for cats who come into our care due to abandonment or relinquishment. Our services are reserved for any resident of Laguna Woods Village, and procedures have been established to provide guidance through both relinquishment and adoption. Our highest commitment remains the health and safety of the cats entrusted to our care.
Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 11th , in Clubhouse 5 at 12:30pm.
We will be presenting a memorial tribute to Pat Wilkinson, our beloved Vice President, publicist, and webmaster, who passed away on September 13th.
Light refreshments will be served.
The remainder of our time will be devoted to reviewing the final details for our Holiday Boutique in Clubhouse 7 on Saturday, October 28th.
If you are a Boutique volunteer, please attend this meeting. Thanks to those who donated raffle items. We are in abundance and not accepting anything more, except gift cards. It will be fabulous!

Message from our President (7 July):
Wow, here it is July already and the days are sunny and hot! I hope you’re enjoying your post-Covid summer. As you know, we are not having Membership Meetings in July and August, but we’re not sitting on our paws. We’re working on plans for our Holiday Boutique on October 28, 2023 and consistently overseeing the future of all aspects of the Cat Club. Lots of you volunteered for the Boutique, and it will be spectacular. Several of you volunteered for Board and Assistant positions, which is great, although we do need to fill a need for more. You’ll be receiving information about both in the very near future.
I’m writing to you about a serious situation. We have an imperative need for foster parents. We currently have no available fosters. That means that we will have to turn residents away. They will have to resort to other rescues or shelters. Worse-case scenario—I will have to place the Foster and Adoption Program on hiatus and turn EVERYBODY away.
If you ever considered fostering, now is the time to step up. If you’ve been with the Club for several years, you know how rewarding fostering can be for someone who takes in a cat who has just lost the only home and human it has ever known. You’ve seen the wonderful Foster Tribute videos produced by Pat Wilkinson and you’ve read the articles in the Globe and the Breeze extolling the virtues of this very special kind of volunteering. Our Cat Club covers all of the costs—food, supplies, and medical attention. You can have the companionship of a little feline being with none of the cost.
Please consider helping us out. Even if you only foster for the summer to cover vacations, it would be a big help. Fosters are human beings with demands on their lives and time, too, and they are entitled to ask for time off. Right now, I’m looking for someone to take in Shelly, Rose Tingle’s cat. I promised Rose, on her death bed, that I would find a loving home for Shelly. It’s taking a little longer than I expected, but I will keep that promise. I need to re-foster him now. Surely there’s someone out there who could take in this big butter biscuit for a few more months.
Please contact Jody Powers at 832-540-1063 or jopo540@yahoo.com to sign up or find out more. Please check out CoCo, Kelly, Reddy, Sugar, and Shelly. Coming soon: Lucky, the 6-month-old stray we rescued, and Zipper, a long-haired, beautiful mix.
We really need your support. Please help our kitties out.

Seven years ago one of our members adopted her first cat in 30 years!!! Needless to say, there were lots of adjustments made for both Pat and Missy. This is the story of them 'adopting' each other. Enjoy!
