History and Mission
The Laguna Woods Cat Club is a small but mighty band of volunteers who have been rescuing cats in our Village retirement community since 1971. We have an IRS 501(c)(3) tax exempt status, and all of the resources for our Foster and Adoption Program are derived from donations and fundraising events.
The mission of this program is to provide loving, permanent homes for cats who come into our care due to abandonment or relinquishment. Our relinquishment services are reserved for any resident of Laguna Woods Village, and procedures have been established to provide guidance through relinquishment, fostering, and adoption.
Our highest commitment remains to the health and safety of the cats entrusted to our care.

OUR NEXT MEETING
Wednesday, october 14, 2026: 12:30pm at Clubhouse 5
At our October meeting, the Cat Club will depart from its usual animal welfare mission. Instead, the members will go on a “wild cat safari.” Along the way, wild cats will be found from long ago and far away to a very present-day discovery—the tiny Tilcayo!
Our safari guide will be Curt Abdouch, Village resident, biologist, and former Administrator of the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. Curt will share stories of encounters he has had with some of these wild cats while on scientific and training assignments in Africa, India, Malaysia, and elsewhere during his career.
The stories will be accented with realistic models, biological specimens, artifacts, photos, and artwork. These resources will be arranged “museum style” so the audience can get a closeup look at the conclusion of the program. Far from exotic destinations, he will tell stories that happened in Orange County and even in Laguna Woods!
